H. Nasir Tofu Slawi & Tempe Mendoan

H. Nasir Tahu Slawi (Slawi Tofu) and Tempe Mendoan begin the business in Jl. Gandaria Tengah III, in front of the famous Bubur Barito. You can eat here, but usually people buy to take home. This tempe and tofu is best to eat hot.

I like the tempe mendoan better than the tofu. Tempe mendoan is tempe sliced thinly, then fried with flour batter. It’s so simple, but the taste is very good, especially when you eat it hot with chilly. Sometime I bring it home to eat with hot rice, only tempe mendoan with chilly. It’s soo great. The slawi tofu is delicious too. With peanut sauce, just perfect companion for the tofu. So simple, only yellow tofu with a little filling. Tempe mendoan is very simple too. But they’re very delicious. Lot of people must be feel the same with me. The prove is, the wok is never stop frying tofu and tempe. Especially in fasting month. Near dawn, lots of people always queing here to buy Slawi Tofu or Tempe Mendoan.

Burger & Grill Gandaria

Burger & Grill Gandaria Branch located in the corner in intersection between Jl. Gandaria Tengah III and Jl. Ahmad Dahlan. Main menu is burger and steak. But they have a slogan, We Grill Everything. So they don’t just sell burger and steak, but everything. From grilled soto (Indonesian style soup), grilled spaghetti, to grilled rib soup. But relax, you won’t find charcoaled soto because they only grill the meat, not entire soto.

I’ve tried their burger, steak, grilled soto, and rib soup. The burger is average, taste and price is considerable. The steak is fairly delicious too. But the special ones is their other grilled thing. Their rib soup is very delicious, with 2 big ribs, and only priced Rp. 34,500. If you don’t eat much, maybe it’s enough for 2 people.

Maybe the reason a lot of people come here every day is the atmosphere. Burger & Grill’s location in the corner of intersection make it cozy for hangout. There’s big screen facing street. In soccer event time, this place is always full of people watching soccer. Too bad I don’t like soccer.

Mie Ceker Bandung (Bandung Ceker Noodle)

Source: liputan6.com

I didn’t like ceker (chicken foot), but Bakmi Ceker (Ceker Noodle) made me like ceker very much. I tried bakmi ceker in Jl. Sungai Sambas, near Blok M, Kebayoran Baru. It’s a home-like restaurant. The place is comfortable, you can choose air conditioned room inside or enjoying natural wind in the terrace outside. Toilet is clean and if you’re Muslim, you can do the sholat at Musholla.

The noodle is delicious, a typical chinese type noodle. If you often eat here, sometime you can get overcooked noodle if your luck is bad. But overall, it tastes real good. What makes it special is the ceker. The meat is very easy to suck from the bone. There’s no sticky feel that make me don’t like ceker. It’s very yummy and sweet, makes me addict. The price is very affordable, consider the good taste and the fairly nice restaurant. One portion of noodle is only Rp. 10,000 including tax.

If one portion is not enough, you can ask for one-and-the-half portion. Beside the original ceker noodle, they also serve rica-rica (hot style) noodle, fried rice, and various juices.

Nasi Bebek Ginyo (Ginyo Duck Rice)

As a duck lover, for me Surabaya duck rice is the best. In Surabaya, duck rice is very delicious and cheap, and east to find around the street. Sometime you can get it with only Rp. 5,000. But in Jakarta, duck is considered more classy than chicken. More expensive, but not as delicious than in Surabaya. I’ve tasted one famous duck in Jakarta. I had to queue to get it. And you know? The taste is so-so. From all ducks I’ve tried, there’s a few that not bad. But the best so far is Nasi Bebek Ginyo (Ginyo Duck Rice) in Jl. Tebet Utara Dalam, South Jakarta. Don’t expect you’ll get duck rice with Rp. 5,000 here, because 1 pc duck without rice priced Rp. 16,000.

In Ginyo you can choose many kind of duck. Serve yourself as yoy like, then pay at cashier. There’s fried duck, grilled duck, crispy duck, hot style duck, and green chilly duck. You can choose plain rice or uduk rice (rice cooked with coconut milk), as much as you like. There’s two kind of sambal (chilly sauce), the sweet one and the salty one. There’s also mango sambal, blendo (duck oil sauce), tofu, tempe, and pepes bebek (duck in banana leave).

The duck is tender, big, and tasted very good. What make it special is it’s unique spice. You can still smell it long after you eat. It’s very good. But even there’s many kind of duck, I still love the plain fried duck, because it’s the yummiest. You can taste the original duck taste. If you add spice too much, there’ll be no different with chicken. For me, the most important is the original yummy duck taste. Because that makes duck different with chicken. If cooked right, duck can be much more yummy than chicken. And that’s what makes me love duck.

Another unique thing from Nasi Bebek Ginyo is the old style atmosphere. It’s very old time Java, with antique things and antique ad board. Even the Nasi Bebek Ginyo signboard is old time restaurant type.

Sego Pecel Pincuk Yu Tie (Pincuk Pecel Rice Yu Tie)

Pecel is one of many type Indonesian style vegetables with peanut sauce. Beside pecel, you can easily find other kind of vegetables with peanut sauce, such as gado-gado, karedok, and plecing. Sego Pecel Pincuk is Javanese language, means pecel rice in banana leave plate. I’m sure pecel lovers will love this one. The sauce is thick and yummy, true Madiun style pecel. Differ than common pecel, Madiun style pecel is more salty than sweet, mixed with a little hot taste that makes it more yummy.

Beside pecel, here you can eat gudeg (traditional food from Yogyakarta, made from jackfruit), ayam kalasan (crispy fried chicken kalasan style), garang asem (sour chicken in banana leaves), and rawon (black meat soup).

Ayam kalasan and garang asem are delicous too. The chicken is so yummy with tasty crispy. If you like sour and fresh, you’ll like garang asem. Garang asem is made from chicken, chicken liver, gizzard, and sour starfruit wrapped in banana leaves.

Price rate: nasi pecel Rp. 8.000, nasi rawon Rp. 11.000, ayam kalasan Rp. 10.000, garang asem Rp. 8.000.

Bubur Ayam Barito (Barito Chicken Porridge)

Source: www.liputan6.com

This chicken porridge is not breakfast chicken porridge, because it opens from afternoon till night. What make this porridge special is the topping. Cheese stick, fried onion, celerry, tongcai (seasoned radish), cakwe, and the most special is the big diced chicken. The porridge itself is very delicious. The toppings make it great. If you like, you can ask for egg. For the hot mania, the sambel (chilly sauce) make it very tasty.
The price is relatively cheap, Rp. 9000/portion. About drink, orange juice here is great too. If you want other juices, there’s a juice stall nearby, you can order from there.

Starting business in early 90’s, now Barito Chicken Porridge is still always full of visitor.
Altough full order, they work very fast, so you won’t wait too long. If the seat is full, you can sit in your car. Order from the parkingman and they will bring to your porridge to your car. Even the name is Barito Chicken Porridge, the location is not precisely in Jl. Barito, but in Jl. Gandaria Tengah III, near Jl. Barito. Opening hour: 3-4 pm till sold out, usually 10-11pm.

Ayam Bakar Ganthari (Ganthari Grilled Chicken)

Ganthari Grilled Chicken begins with single stall in Jl. Mahakam intersection, in front of SMA 6 (6 High School), near Blok M Plaza, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan. Now it grows very big, with a size of several block stall plus a big tent in the front street.

About the taste, it’s undoubtable. Every night Ganthari is very full of visitor. The chicken is very tasty… tender, sweet, and yummy. Perfect with the sweet n hot sambel (chilly sauce).

Ganthari’s atmosphere is very enjoyable. Far from there we can smell the grill smoke, it’s very good. Street musician keep coming here, from small band style, country style, traditional style, until the plain guitar singer. When the owner sometime come to restaurant, he always yelling at stubborn street musician, that make visitor annoyed because they have to wash their hand to put out some money each time new musician come. You know, in some Indonesian food, including Ganthari, people love to eat with bare hand. Off course you can ask for spoon and fork if you don’t want to eat with your hand. Other unique view is the waiter walking around with many plates in their hand, Padang Restaurant style, but with medhok (Javanese) accent. Because the owner and most of employee is came from Malang, East Java.

When I first eat Ganthari grilled chicken, I was surprised. My God, the taste is very good. How come grilled chicken so delicious like this. At that time, the stall is still very small. You have to queue to get a seat. Until now, even the restaurant is much bigger, sometimes you have to wait to get a seat, especially in dinner time.

Beside chicken, Ganthari has other menus, such as grilled tempe-tofu, grilled ribs, and ribs soup. In my opinion, the grilled ribs is not to special. The taste is very similar with the chicken. But the ribs soup is tasted very good. The soup is fresh and yummy.
Now Ganthari has many branch, in Gandaria, in Cikajang, and many more.
